The Lewis Group is committed to direct and indirect financial investment in socially responsible initiatives and activities, and allocates funds throughout each financial year for this specific purpose. Direct financial investment involves financing approved projects, and indirect investment involves a contribution in kind (e.g. resources, goods & material) for a project.
Our target is to budget 1% of our Group after tax profits for CSI initiatives – to be achieved progressively in terms of approved projects. The CSI spend is reviewed each year and is approved by the Board of Directors.
We have developed a benchmark for fund allocation to ensure effective social investment:
| Primary Projects: | 64 | % | |
| Auxiliary Projects: | 10 | % | |
| Foreign states | 10 | % | |
| Sundry donations | 10 | % | |
| Employee Community Involvement: | 6 | % |
The Group does not fund in terms of providing loan, the purchasing of equipment for research purposes; or international Programs and Institutions. We will occasionally support individual requests where the beneficiaries are linked to a store (customers) or staff members.
